The island city of Abu Dhabi is one of the most glamorous cities in the world and for all that sophisticated opulence they can never have enough of their own fabled football pitch.
Furniture was built for the sports lovers of Abu Dhabi to host this game, and has been designed from the ground up to provide an optimum environment for soccer players of all levels. Its first step was to make a synthetic turf that can withstand the wear and tear of the action in this football, and is able to support players of all ages.
One of the major advantages of artificial grass is that it eliminates the need for artificial bleachers, instead providing the ground with the nutrients to build up the natural qualities of the soil. Another key feature of artificial grass is that it requires less maintenance than the traditional grass that is found in fields across the globe. Because it does not require special lighting, it can be laid out throughout the day without the possibility of poor lighting conditions.
Furniture came into being in late 2020, and it wasn’t long before the need for more artificial turf for all the World Class players began to form. During the initial testing, the tests were very good, with the artificial turf doing very well in comparison to the natural grass that would be used in its competition. In fact, it was a very tough competition.
One of the big issues in establishing an artificial turf facility was to develop the new technology that was going to create such a completely unique experience for soccer fans, but also for the competitors. There was a critical need to find out how much the artificial turf would be able to withstand the pressure that comes with hosting the most competitive events on the planet. When the test results came back from the testing, they were very impressive.
The players in Furniture Abu Dhabi are required to play on the artificial turf, but the whole arena is surrounded by a custom screen which deflects the light from the field and gives it a very dark atmosphere. The light from the stadium is redirected down through the artificial turf, so that it illuminates the players on the field and makes it easier for them to see the ball and track down the opposing team. The light is so dark that the competition doesn’t come to the attention of the opponents, making it easy for them to score against the Furniture team.
Furniture itself is very unique. It is actually two different stadiums, one for the actual playing field, and one for the virtual pitch that is created for the soccer fans to use. The virtual pitch allows the fans to see their favorite players, but also to create their own virtual experience, both cheering for their favorite team and for their favorite players.
The technology behind the artificial turf is quite impressive, as it plays the same as the natural grass would. For the FIFA World Cup this summer, there will be four total pitches, and one central field, creating four separate venues, and allowing for a total of twenty-four venues for the entire event.
The Furniture facility includes five times as many turf stadiums, each having been built specifically for the stadium’s hosting capacity. and weatherproofed to withstand humidity and wind.
